We also sue builders. In one case, our clients purchased a house with a finished basement. However, when water ingress issues led them to open up the walls and ceilings to investigate, they discovered what one expert described as the 'worst wood butchery' he had ever seen: supporting beams cut so much that the structural integrity of the main floor was arguably compromised. In that case, we protected our clients against a 'dry judgment' by tying down the builder's assets with a Mareva injunction and then obtained a fair settlement on threat of trial.
