Timothy H. Pettit , Lawyer
Tim was born in Brantford, Ontario but raised in Horseshoe Bay, British Columbia and Etobicoke, Ontario.  In his younger days, Tim played rugby for the Vancouver Reps and Capilano Rugby Club and served as a combat engineer with the 6 th Field Engineering Squadron.  He obtained an Honours History degree from UBC and a Bachelors of Law degree from the University of Western Ontario.  After a brief stint on Bay Street, Tim returned to practice law in Vancouver.  In 1994, Tim joined North Shore Law in North Vancouver and became a partner with this firm in 1999.  After many happy years there, Tim left to found Pettit and Company in April 2011.

Tim is a trial lawyer with a diverse litigation practice. He regularly represents victims injured in accidents, wrongfully dismissed employees, builders and homeowners involved in construction disputes, insurance companies and their insureds, family members involved in estate disputes, businesses with employment problems and victims of discrimination.

Tim seeks to practice law creatively and innovatively.  He is a frequent lecturer on litigation issues and is regularly asked to design litigation strategy for his institutional clientele.  Tim is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia, and Canadian Defence Lawyers.

Since founding his law firm, Tim has been a dedicated mentor. He deeply appreciates the mentorship he received from the senior partners of North Shore Law twenty three years ago and hopes to provide a similarly supportive environment for educating and inspiring his brilliant legal team, irrespective of their call to the Bar dates or roles at the firm. It is with joy that Tim watches his former assistants and junior lawyers grow into accomplished and steadfast mentors in their own right. Assistants are now paralegals; junior lawyers are now inspiring legal leaders.

Additionally, to give back to the legal profession by providing opportunities for law students is in Tim's view an important function of a lawyer with twenty five years of industry experience from which to draw. Tim readily admits that the only edge he has on his team is a few years of legal experience.

Tim is a cottager and outdoorsman at heart. His interests are varied but include hiking, snowshoeing, sailing, skiing and just messing about in nature. Tim is an ardent animal lover who has given his time in the past to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. He lives with his wife and two children on the  North Shore.
